With FL Studio I would have a lot of overhead to use basically only use one plug-in, and that sucks. So I get something for the overhead of Reason Rack as a VST. Reason is a whole ecosystem of modular-synth-like interaction. Both are not exactly the cream of DAWs, though you can do stuff with them and some people love them, whatever floats your boat and your creativity.Įven if I can run FL Studio as a plug-in, I wouldn't, though. And as an owner of Maschine I can use Maschine in other DAWs as well.

They may have pulled VST products, but they have brought out a new product, the Reason Rack as fully supported VST, that allows you to use the unique selling point of Reason without resorting to Reason as a DAW. However, IL made a choice of pulling something from the market to try to funnel people into buying a lesser product, and I will boycott such behavior.Ĭompare Reason Studios. I am aware that most DAWs have only native & exclusive plug-ins.

On the other hand, support for them was always poor, no Mac versions, no updates, so how often do they expect to sell the same old thing? Apparently, to be fair, the VSTs never used to make them that much money. I would have loved to be able to buy Sytrus now that I know of its existence, but they clearly don't want my money. I wasn't going to use FL Studio as I already have a DAW I like better, and I won't be shoehorned into buying it by making the plug-ins exclusive. So, for almost the same price you got a "deal" that sold you something less usable under a deceptive name! This pissed a lot of people off as they realized this was a deceptive naming given that the "All Plug-ins Bundle" had been the collection of all VSTs that IL used to sell. When ImageLine introduced I think it was FL Studio 20, they sold an "All Plug-ins Edition" which contained all the stuff that only works in FL Studio. In February I suggested to someone who makes NKS support for third party libs (Freelance Soundlabs) to also support Harmor, and he told me "I can't find a way to buy this." After some research I found the same thing as you did, and I was quite pissed off. I love it, it does have some amazing presets that really showcase what it can do. I had bought Harmor in December on a sale on Sweetwater.
